How Does CBD Work?

To understand how CBD works, it’s essential to understand what’s known as the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) contains cannabinoid receptors found throughout our bodies. The purpose of the ECS is homeostasis, which helps regulate areas like sleep, mood, appetite and pain. CBD and other cannabinoids fit into the receptors of the Endocannabinoid System assisting in supporting many of our body’s physical processes.

Research suggests that CBD may be able to help some people with relief of pain caused by inflammation, supports sleep cycles, and everyday stresses in life. Overall, many people use hemp CBD products to improve their overall well-being.

Over the last few years, the hemp CBD industry has grown across the United States. Many products, like oils/tinctures, salves, creams, capsules, and edibles, contain hemp CBD extracts. CBD oil often makes a great alternative to medical marijuana because these products are easy to consume and don’t produce psychoactive effects.

Everyone reacts differently to hemp CBD products. Here is some information that may be helpful if you’re not sure which hemp CBD products to use:

  • Tinctures/oils & capsules: Taken orally and produce an “all-over” effect
  • Topicals (lotions, creams & salves): Used for specific targeted areas of pain
  • Vape or smokable hemp: Used for all-over relief. It passes through the lungs directly into the bloodstream for faster onset than oils or capsules
  • Ingestible: Capsules, honey, tea, gummies have all over effect, takes longer for onset

How safe are your products?

Each of our manufacturer’s products are 3rd party lab tested for safety and purity. Each brand has lab results available on their websites.

How much and how often should I use these products?

If you are using an oil/tincture, it is suggested to start with lower doses daily and work your way up over the next few weeks as necessary to reach your wellness goals. Being consistent is important, so take it regularly to get the full benefit. Topicals can be applied to the targeted area as needed. Everyone is unique, and while some people may need lower amounts, others may need more. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

All brands we carry are high quality US grown and manufactured. There are subtle differences between each brand, but they are all very effective. You may find that one brand works better for you than another one, so be open to try new brands occasionally.

Will CBD interfere with medications?

CBD could possibly interfere with some medications by making them either more or less effective. We recommend speaking to your physician and pharmacist prior to using CBD products. Always follow the manufacturer directions.

Are there CBD products for pets?

There are hemp CBD biscuits, oils, and treats that are specifically intended for pets. Hemp CBD may be able to produce similar effects for animals because, like humans, they also have an endocannabinoid system. Talk to a veterinarian before giving hemp CBD products to your pets.
